Cat Urine Smell
Cats are
cute and adorable little creatures. There are plenty of reasons to love these
great pets, but one thing out of the list is cat urine smell. Many consider
that the offensive odor coming from cat urine is the most difficult smell to
get rid of. Cat urine penetrates through carpets, upholstery, and pads, leaving
unsightly stains and a strong, foul odor. The worst thing is that when you fail
to remove the smell, your lovely pets are likely to go back and make that place

How to Get Rid of Cat Urine Smell
1. Use white
vinegar and water solution.
Mix white
vinegar with water. Blot the area first with a dry towel then pour the solution
onto the area. Leave it for a few minutes. Using a wash cloth, soak as much
liquid as you can. Sprinkle baking soda on the area and let it sit until the
area has dried completely. Once the baking soda has returned to powder form,
vacuum the area thoroughly. If the cat urine smell is still there, just repeat
the process until it is completely removed. You can also use this solution to
clean furniture and scrub the walls. Just remember to test it first on a small
area to check if the solution does not cause any damage.
2. Try
baking soda and hydrogen peroxide.
Form a paste
by mixing baking soda with hydrogen peroxide. Apply this on cat urine stains.
The hydrogen peroxide kills bacteria and the baking soda helps get rid of cat
urine smell. The paste will remove the stains and you can apply more baking
soda if the cat urine smell is not completely eliminated.
3. Use
enzyme-based cleaners.
There are a
lot of products on the market that claim to remove cat urine smell and stains,
but not all of them works. If you see the word “enzyme” on the product label,
you've found what you need. Many stain and odor removal products on the market
only mask the smell through their sweet scents. Enzymatic cleaners, on the
other hand, target the source of the odor, therefore completely eliminating
that offensive cat urine smell. You can find these cleaners at pet stores. Soak
up as much liquid as you can then spray the cleaner. Let it dry overnight then
rinse the area with warm water.
4. Keep the litter box clean.
Preventing
your pets from peeing in unwanted places is much better than trying to get rid
of cat urine smell. Remember that cats are clean by nature. They do not want to
stay and pee in places that are filthy and dirty. So if you do not regularly
clean the cat’s litter box, chances are your pet will find another place in
your house to set up its camp. Make sure that you give your cat a clean area
with a fresh litter box.
